Becoming a PADI SCUBA Diver takes roughly half the time as completing the PADI Open Water Diver course. There’s only half the academic sessions, half the skills development time in the pool, and half as many open water dives, meaning you don’t need to spend as many days out of your holiday learning.
This is a great intermediate step if you’re not sure about the full certification course, don’t have much holiday time to spare, or are learning to dive as a family with your children. You’ll be certified to dive to 12 metres/40 feet under the direct supervision of a PADI professional.
No prior experience is required to sign up for the PADI SCUBA Diver course, but you need to be relatively comfortable in the water. Please note that:
Participants must be at least 10 years old and able to oat or tread water for 10 minutes.
You will be required to fill in a PADI medical form before any in-water activities. Some
pre-existing conditions require a medical sign off from a dive physician. If in doubt, please contact us with any medical questions prior to booking.
The PADI SCUBA Diver course consists of three main phases:
Knowledge Development (eLearning, independent study, or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of SCUBA diving.
Shallow water skills training in the pool to learn the basic SCUBA skills you’ll need and get comfortable swimming and breathing underwater.
We provide a complete set of basic SCUBA gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), dive gauges, and a tank. You’ll learn how to set up the equipment yourself and run through comprehensive pre-dive safety checks as part of the course.
You can get started today by registering for PADI eLearning online. Your PADI Scuba Diver Crew-Pak contains everything you need, including videos, course materials, and your certification.
