The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular and most widely recognised SCUBA certification course. Thousands of newbies learn to dive in Chumphon and Koh Tao every year. Are you ready to join them?
At Sensui Dive Resort, we focus on eLearning, allowing you to complete all of the self-study before arrival, saving you valuable holiday time once you get here. All you’ll need to do is complete a short academic review with your experienced PADI instructor, then you are good to get in the water and begin your training. We offer the course in two different locations, so you can learn to dive in Chumphon or Koh Tao.
No prior experience is required to sign up for the PADI Open Water Diver course, but you need to be relatively comfortable in the water. Please note that:
-
Participants must be at least 10 years old, although children under 15 will receive a PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification.
-
Participants must be able to float or tread water for 10 minutes and complete a 200metre swim/300 metre snorkel.
-
You will be required to fill in a PADI medical form before any in-water activities. Some pre-existing conditions require a medical sign off from a dive physician. If in doubt, please contact us with any medical questions prior to booking.
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
-
Knowledge Development (eLearning, independent study, or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of SCUBA diving.
-
Shallow water skills training in our pool to learn the basic SCUBA skills you’ll need and get comfortable swimming and breathing underwater.
-
Open water dives to use your skills and explore four of the fantastic dive sites within the Chumphon Marine Park or on Koh Tao.
We provide a complete set of basic SCUBA gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD), dive gauges, and a tank. You’ll learn how to set up the equipment yourself and run through comprehensive pre-dive safety checks as part of the course.
You can get started today by registering for PADI eLearning online. Your PADI Open Water Diver Crew-Pak contains everything you need, including videos, course materials, and your certification credit.
